elearningeuropa.info, the European reference portal for education and technology, launched its new user-centric platform in May 2011. New features include participatory tools such as blogs and communities as well as a video library.
The elearningeuropa.info website, launched in 2002 by the European Commission, has been completely redesigned. The aim was to include new social media tools such as blogs on the website, which offers users the opportunity to express their opinions and share insights. There is also a TV channel featuring videos about education and technology.
The new site will enable users to create communities and working groups focusing on themes and topics of interest and to use these privileged spaces to show their content to a wider audience. These communities provide the ideal space for collaboration and sharing ideas. The first communities are up and running with discussions and insights into language learning and social media: open education, virtual worlds and gaming.
elearningeuropa.info has more than 35,000 registered users with an average of 16,000 monthly visits.
